Apple is Kin. Influential in Notte's life and one of Horse's rescues, she helped teach Notte during his time in the city of [Az'Kabek](http://ruthannereid.com/wiki/azkabek/). Her primary role was actually to teach Notte how to blend in: how to observe and follow local cultural protocols, how to prepare with clothing, makeup, or jewelry or weapons, and insinuate himself with smooth perfection.

She taught him how to be a gentleman. Incidentally, Apple is dedicated to a wonderful reader: [RainbowCrisp](https://twitter.com/rainbowcrisp). Also *also* incidentally, her natural pigmentation tends toward pink. Don't blame me. The character demanded it. (And please don't kill me, Kelli!)
