## ROUGH TRANSCRIPT

Welcome back creatives. Ruthanne Reid, author and stroke survivor, here to help you get out of block and into a daily habit of creation. We're talking about a really important tool today. And we're doing it inside because it's really hot out there. You need to be able to define your reason for creating. You see, your why, your reason for creating is incredibly important. That reason is a foundation on which you stand. It is the foundation that can withstand storms, industry changes, technological changes, scary things like AI stealing everybody's art. That's awful. But if you have a good enough reason to create, you're you're going to keep going. You will find a way to keep going. My goal for you is to find a why, a reason that is not dependent on anything that can change, that cannot be taken away from you. So no matter what is going on with industry, technology, whatever, you can keep going. A specific bookstore can go away. A school can go out of business or change. Contests can, you know, who knows what political machinations are going on there. If your why is something that can be taken away from you, lost, or it can go out of business, it is not your why. My why is I want to be able to give both escape and education to the people who read my books. Done. I'm doing it. I'm actually doing it. That means that as the industry changes, as technology changes, whatever I have to learn to do to keep up, my why stays the same. There is so much power in this creative. You need to sit down and figure out what your why is. And remember, it cannot be taken away from you. It cannot be changed. It cannot be ruined. It doesn't vanish because the economy crashed. Your why will remain. And yeah, just because you want to do it is a good enough reason. It really is. But you need to be able to phrase it, speak it, write it down, to know it in yourself. Find your why, creative. Your art deserves it. And so do you. No matter what is going on out there, you keep creating. Sit down with me, and together, let's make something new.
