If I created yesterday, so can you. (daily video)
Well, yesterday was terrible. Just fingertips on my skin were so painful that I ended up on the ground. Guess what? I still wrote. I’m not saying this to boast. I’m saying this so you know that you can do the same.

ROUGH TRANSCRIPT
Well, yesterday was fun.
Welcome back, creatives. Ruthanne Reid here, author and stroke
survivor, to help you get out of block and into daily habit of creation.
If any of you have been following this channel for a while, you know that chronic illness
is a thing for me, and unfortunately yesterday was a flare
up.
Honestly, one of the top 5 I've ever had.
Making contact with anything...
Just my husband's fingertips on my back were
so painful that I got lightheaded and it ended up on the floor.
So yeah, it was it was a bad day.
Why the heck am I telling you this? Because I did something that seems
like it may seem insane in those circumstances.
I wrote a sentence.
It's a crappy sentence.
It's not a sentence that's going to stay in my book, but that's not the point.
See, in order to build a habit—which is to say,
in order to build a pattern that has been repeated so
often that your brain understands this is normal, and it
needs to be streamlined, you have to do the thing regularly—
and it gets easier as you go. Your body and brain adapt
because anything that it decides is "normal" means it's
got to be energy efficient.
You're doing it all the time, so we have to make it as efficient as possible.
That's why you build habits.
That's how you build habits.
No matter what is going on, however bad it is, you can make
one new thing.
Let it be the wrong thing. Let it be terrible. That's fine.
But if you continue to make that thing, you will
build the habit of creation.
That's what happens with anything you do regularly.
It takes time, but you can do this.
You can not get blocked ever again for the rest of your life.
If I can do it, as neurospicy as I am, you definitely can.
So, I'm feeling better than yesterday—
It's why I'm on camera—but not super.
So, uh, I'm gonna go lie down and try to leave
my body for a while.
But in the meantime, let me encourage you.
You've got this, creative.
You are not alone.
Sit down with me, and with creeks and cracks,
let's make something new.
