## ROUGH TRANSCRIPT

Welcome back, creatives.
Ruthanne Reid here, author and stroke survivor, to help you get out of block
and into a daily habit of creation.
Normally, I focus on positive tips on this channel.
You know, the whole thing is that we are working our way out
of block and into a place where every single day, without
fail, you are able to create.
But there is a part of this that we need to discuss that's difficult.
There's an old expression that the other side of love is grief. Thhat
is part of this when it comes to your art.
As you go through the process of getting unblocked, as
you figure out your own voice and style, and
you get to the point where you are just breathing out creation,
there is going to be grief.
Possibly anger, different feelings that are
not so good because you're going to realize you
never had to be blocked in the first place.
You're going to realize that you got blocked because of unrealistic
expectations that were pushed upon you by everybody on
this planet, and it's not a good feeling.
You start to wonder what art maybe you could have done if...
that "what if" trap that we talk about on this channel a lot.
Creative, I'm going to tell you to just feel your way through this.
You're gonna have to grieve.
You're gonna have to rage.
To some extent, you're going to have to forgive, and I don't mean excuse
any wrong done against you.
I mean, you let it go so that you can move on.
Whatever they did or told you is on them.
This grief is a usual part of getting out of block.
I have experienced it.
Other artists have experienced it.
So don't be startled if you find yourself there, but acknowledge it.
Feel your way through it.
Go, "Yeah, okay, there's a lot of years I could have been creating and I didn't.
I didn't."
It happened.
It's done, whether you acknowledge it or not.
It's over, but you don't have to waste any
more years.
That is the point of this—to feel your grief,
the point of it is to get through it to the other side.
Creative, you are not alone. The years that you
wanted to create and didn't... okay, it happened.
It happens.
Forgive yourself for that one, too.
Then sit down with me, and
together, with determination to waste no more time,
let's make something new.
