Creative, this is your moment. Get your tools and playlists NOW. Set boundaries of time NOW. Don’t wait until you have 15 minutes free only to spend 10 of them building a playlist.

ROUGH TRANSCRIPT

Welcome back, creatives.
Ruthanne Reid, author and stroke survivor, here to help you get out of block
and into a daily habit of creation.
I don't know about you, but I have a really crazy week ahead of me.
There's gonna be a lot of travel, there's gonna be a lot of work.
It's gonna be very intense.
So, I am doing something that I highly suggest all
of us do on a Sunday:
Plan your creative week.
What materials are you going to need to have at hand?
Are you going to need a playlist?
Do you need certain paints?
Do you need a certain kind of thread?
What kind of time commitment are you looking for?
Are you going to have the courage to tell the people in your life,
"You know, I need 20 minutes here."
"I need 15 minutes there."
"I need 45 minutes here."
You have to set those boundaries.
Unfortunately, there's no shortcut for that.
Often, when we get a little bit of time to create, we waste
half of it going,
"Oh, I need to set up music."
"Oh, I can't find my tools, oh..." whatever, because
we didn't prepare.
You don't have a lot of time.
Neither do I.
Nobody does right now.
That means your best chance to create is to make sure that the
time you have is prepared for is
planned, is blocked off.
Your kids can handle 15 minutes without you.
Plan your week.
That way, when that 15 minute window opens up, you're not going
to waste 10 minutes of it looking for that particular Adele song.
Do your prep now.
That's certainly what I'm gonna do.
When you get the chance creative, sit down with me,
and together, let's make something new.
